PU Rubber

Polyurethane Rubber both pourable and brushable, excellent for making molds or stamping pads for the casting of abrasive materials like concrete and hard gypsums but also for industrial applications like making pullies, gaskets, shock pads etc.

Using Smooth-On’s exclusive “V-Polymer” technology, VytaFlex urethane rubbers are “next generation” products to our popular PMC- Series and offer superior physical and performance properties. VytaFlex urethanes are available in 10A 20A, 30A, 40A, 50A and 60A Shore hardness’s and feature convenient one-to-one by volume mix ratios. Vacuum degassing is not necessary and VytaFlex rubbers cure with negligible shrinkage to a durable rubber that will last in production.

VytaFlex mold rubbers are used for a variety of applications including making molds to reproduce sculpture and architectural elements, as well as for making special effects, toys and prototypes. They will meet the stringent demands of production casting of concrete, plasters, and other materials. Vibrant colors can be achieved by adding So-Strong Color Tints.

VytaFlex mold rubbers work especially well for casting pigmented / colored concrete or gypsum. Molds made with VytaFlex Series urethanes will render accurate and uniform colored castings.

The PMC-121 Series urethane rubbers feature convenient one-to-one by volume mix ratios. PMC-121/30 Dry and PMC-121/30 Wet are exceptionally strong and abrasion resistant for soft urethane mold rubbers. Pick the one best suited for your application. The dry version does not exude oil and can be used for casting waxes, Smooth-On liquid plastics, gypsum plasters and other materials. The wet version exudes oil that aids in demolding hard plasters and concrete. PMC-121/50 is a “wet-only” mold rubber that is long lasting and durable when used in a variety of applications including reproduction of ornamental plaster, precast concrete and ceramic case molds. Note: “wet” rubber has a higher net shrinkage value vs. “dry “ rubber.

PMC-121 Series mold rubbers are easy to mix and pour and are exceptionally strong. They are suited for a variety of applications including making molds to reproduce sculpture and architectural elements, as well as for making special effects, toys and prototypes. These rubbers will meet the stringent demands of production casting of wax, plasters, concrete, resins and epoxies. Vibrant colors can be achieved by adding So-Strong™ Color Tints, available from Smooth-On.

PMC-744 has been used for years by mold making professionals to cast plaster, concrete, resins, etc. It is excellent for making molds that are strong, durable and dimensionally stable. Low viscosity ensures fine detail reproduction.

PMC-744 is ideal for making ceramic case molds and plaster block molds, reproducing ornamental plaster, making molds for casting concrete, casting a variety of Smooth-On urethane resins, casting wax and making a variety of mechanical rubber parts.

PMC-744 has proven to be one of the most reliable mold making materials for the casting of addition cured (platinum cured) silicones, that can be very sensitive to cure inhibition. PMC-744 became the industry standard for making molds for appliances made out of Dragon Skin, EcoFlex or Plat Gel.

PMC-746 was developed to make molds for casting gypsum plasters. Like PMC-744, this product is well suited for use as a rubber case mold – especially large case molds where extra rigidity is required. Shore hardness is 60 A. Because of its durability and moisture resistant properties PMC-746 is also used by zoos and museums for a variety of mold-making, display and exhibit applications. It features a convenient mix ratio (2:1 by weight or volume), and contains no mercury.

Other applications include making plaster block molds, reproducing ornamental plaster (architectural restoration), pre-cast concrete molds, casting waxes, Smooth-On rigid polyurethanes and epoxies and also for making a variety of special effects for movies and theatres.

PMC-780 is a premium performance urethane rubber that offers exceptional strength, durability and abrasion resistance. Mixed two parts A to one part B by weight, PMC-780 pours easily and cures at room temperature with negligible shrinkage to a solid Shore 80A rubber. Pick The One Best Suited For Your Application: Original PMC-780 Dry does not exude an oil. New PMC-780 Wet contains a built-in release agent to aid in demolding concrete. Both are used around the world for casting abrasive materials such as concrete (pre-cast concrete, making concrete stamping pads, etc.) and gypsum plasters with high exotherms. PMC-780 Dry is also commonly used to make rubber mechanical parts of varying configurations (gaskets, wheels, pullies) as well as ball mill liners and vibration/shock pads.

Technical Bulletin

PMC-790 is a new Shore 90A industrial urethane rubber compound designed to meet the most stringent requirements of industrial production applications. It is a very hard rubber that offers superior tear and tensile strength as well as impact and abrasion resistance. It is a worthy addition to our extensive PMC line.

PMC-790 is suitable for a variety of industrial applications including making concrete stamping pads, mold liners and molds for casting concrete. PMC-790 is also good for making ball mill liners, industrial rollers and belts, rubber mechanical parts and for bonding itself or other substrates to metal
