Moulding Silicone

Tin Cure Silicone

Tin Cure Silicones are the preferred general purpose moulding silicones. They deliver high quality at relatively low costs.
cons: not 100% shrinkage free, molds will age over time

FormSil Silicone is our home brand silicone. The standard FormSil 25 is good if you want to get the job done on a budget. FormSil 25 Pro offers superior strength.

Mold Max Silicones are tin-cured silicone rubber compounds that have exceptional tear strength and working properties and library life. Mold Max Silicones feature Smooth-On’s exclusive “Libra” catalyst for long library life. They cure overnight and feature knotty tear propagation (if the rubber is torn, the tear quickly terminates in a “knot” reducing further mold damage). Mold Max silicones are available in shore hardnesses A10, A20, A30, A40 and A60. They will reproduce the finest detail and are suitable for a variety of industrial and art related applications including making molds for reproducing prototypes, furniture, sculpture and architectural elements.
Mold Max silicones can be used to cast a variety of materials including wax, gypsum, low melt alloys/metals and urethane, epoxy or polyester resins (without using a release agent).

Mold Max® Stroke® is a brushable tin silicone rubber that self-thickens for making fast brush-on molds of almost any model. Properly applied, it will hold a vertical surface and will reproduce the finest detail. Mixed 100A:10B by weight, rubber quickly develops thixotropy and can be applied with a brush or spatula. Working time is 20 minutes, re-coat time is 45 minutes and cure time after the final layer has been applied is 16 hours at room temperature.

Mold Max® Stroke® silicone will not stick to most surfaces and will cure with negligible shrinkage to a strong, flexible Shore 30A rubber. 4 thin layers is all that is necessary to make a strong and durable production mold for casting wax, gypsum, concrete or resins

Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T Silicones are water white translucent tin-cured silicone rubber compounds that have exceptional tear strength, working properties and library life. Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T Silicones feature Smooth-On’s exclusive „Libra®“ catalyst for long library life. They cure overnight and feature knotty tear propagation (if the rubber is torn, the tear quickly terminates in a „knot“ reducing further mold damage).
Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T Silicones will reproduce the finest detail and are suitable for a variety of industrial and art related applications including making molds for reproducing prototypes, furniture, sculpture and architectural elements.
Soft 10T translucent rubber is also ideal for creating animatronic skins and special effects using Silc Pig® silicone pigments.
Mold Max® 10T, 15& 27 Silicones can be thickened with THI-VEX® II additive for brush-on applications. Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T silicones can be used to cast a variety of materials including wax, gypsum, low melt alloys/metals and urethane, epoxy or polyester resins (without using a release agent).

No Vacuuming – No Scale – OOMOO™ 25 & 30

OOMOO™ 25 & 30 are easy to use silicone rubber compounds that feature convenient one-to-one by volume mix ratios (no scale necessary). Both have very low viscosity for easy mixing and pouring, and vacuum degassing is not necessary. Both products cures at room temperature with negligible shrinkage. OOMOO™ 30 has a
30-minute pot life, with a six-hour cure time. OOMOO™ 25 is a faster version, with a 15-minute pot life and 75 minute cure time. For The Novice Mold Maker - OOMOO silicones do not have great tear strength. They are good for making simple one- or two-piece block molds. If you require a high-tear strength silicone, Mold Maxtm silicones are recommended (contact SMOOTH-ON for more information).

OOMOO™ 25 & 30 are suitable for a variety of art-related and industrial applications including making molds for sculpture and prototype reproduction, casting plaster, resins and wax.

PoYo Putty 40 is a two-component mold making silicones (tin catalyst) that can be mixed and applied
“on site” – directly to almost any model. PoYotm Putty will hold any vertical surface and capture even the finest detail - perfect for making strong rubber molds that can be used within minutes. Use Less – Do More: Because PoYotm is applied as a thin layer, less material is used, saving you money. Molds are also lightweight, making them easier to handle.

Pot life and cure time can be adjusted (faster or slower) by varying the amount of Part B catalyst.
User Friendly - PoYotm Putty can be measured and mixed by volume (no scale necessary). It will stick to itself and other silicone rubbers, giving the user many application options or for using as a silicone rubber repair material.

PoYotm Putty has been used to make molds of valuable antiques and archeological models and can be used to make fast molds of sculpture, prototypes, candles, picture frames, coins, etc. You can cast wax, gypsum and a variety of resins into PoYotm Putty molds.

Platinum Cure Silicone

Platinum Cure Silicones are preferred for most specialty moulding. They deliver unsurpassed strength, mouldlife, accuracy, safety
cons: price, vulnarable for cure inhibition

Smooth-Sil 940 is suitable for making baking molds and trays, ice trays, casting
butter, chocolate and other applications used to produce foods.
Smooth-Siltm 940 has been tested by an independent laboratory to comply with the

Body Double “Standard Set” and Body Double “Fast Set” are long lasting silicone rubbers that can be applied directly to the skin to make molds of the face, hands and other body parts. The rubber cures quickly and will reproduce perfect detail from any original model – far better detail than any alginate!
One Casting or Many . . . For About The Same Price: unlike alginates, which are good for one only casting,
Body Double will last for many castings of almost any material including plaster, Matrix Neo, wax, resins
(Smooth-Cast urethanes, polyester, etc.), Low-temperature melt metal alloys, etc. And the amount of Body Double used per mold is less than most alginates, so the cost per mold is about the same.

Safety: Body Double™ is non-toxic and odorless.

Body Doubl “Standard Set” for larger surface areas. Working time of 5 minutes and a demold time
of 30 minutes*.
Body Double “Fast Set” for fast turn around. Working time of 90 seconds and a demold time of 5 minutes*.
*Depending on material temperature, ambient temperature and body temperature – see “Preparation” below for details.

Smooth-On Platinum Silicones (platinum curative) cure at room temperature with no shrinkage. With different hardness’s products to
choose from, they offer tremendous versatility and are suitable for making production molds of any configuration, large or small.
These silicones exhibit good chemical, abrasion and heat resistance. Materials such as plasters, concrete, wax, low-melt metal alloys
or resins (urethane, epoxy or polyester) can then be cast into these silicone rubbers without a release agent.
