Platinum Cure Silicone

Dragon Skin Series silicones are high performance platinum cure silicone rubbers that can be mixed 1A:1B by weight or volume and cure at room temperature with negligible shrinkage. Cured Dragon Skin® is very strong and very „stretchy“. It will stretch many times its original size without tearing and will rebound to its original form without distortion.
Dragon Skin® is suitable for making high performance molds used for rapid prototyping, wax casting (foundries and candle makers), architectural restoration and for casting concrete. In addition, Dragon Skin® is used in many special effects applications, especially animatronics where repetitive motion is required. It is water white translucent and will accept pigments for creating color effects. Because of the superior physical properties and flexibility of Dragon Skin®, it is also used for orthopedic & cushioning applications.
Dragon Skin® Series silicone rubbers are available in Shore hardnesses of 10A, 20A and 30A. In addition, the Dragon Skin® 10 materials are available in SLOW, MEDIUM and FAST versions.

Dragon Skin® FX-Pro is a soft, stable, high performance platinum silicone rubber specifically designed for creating silicone makeup appliances and skin effects. Dragon Skin® FX-Pro is compatible with Skin-Tite® silicone adhesive as well as medical grade pressure sensitive adhesives for adhering silicone appliances temporarily to the skin.
Soft and stretchy FX-Pro has a Shore hardness of 2A. FX-Pro can be combined with SLACKER® deadening agent to create a very soft silicone gel for filling encapsulated silicone pieces. An infinite number of color effects can be achieved by adding
Silc-Pig® silicone pigments. Cured rubber can also be painted with the Psycho Paint® system.

What Makes Dragon Skin® FX-Pro Unique?
Soft •
- Shore 2A hardness allows for softer appliances using less SLACKER® deadening agent
Low Viscosity • - combined with long working time reduces bubbles and makes pouring easier
Cures Dry • - will not leach silicone fluid
Long Working Time • - 10-12 minute working time is good for larger pours or injections
Fast Cure • - 40 minute cure time allows for quick turnaround of castings or molds
More Workable - Do More • - has a ‘gel’ stage - slushing the material into prosthetic molds is easier

Dragon Skin® FX Pro is mixed 1A:1B by weight or volume. Liquid rubber can be thinned with Silicone Thinner® or thickened with Thi-Vex® II. Rubber cures at room temperature (73°F / 23°C) with negligible shrinkage.

Ecoflex® rubbers are platinum-catalyzed silicones that are versatile and easy to use. Ecoflex® rubbers are mixed 1A:1B by weight or volume and cured at room temperature with negligible shrinkage. Rubber also cures without a „tacky“ surface. Low viscosity ensures easy mixing and de-airing, or you can choose to mix and dispense using our convenient dispensing cartridges.

Cured rubber is very soft, very strong and very „stretchy“, stretching many times its original size without tearing and will rebound to its original form without distortion. Ecoflex® rubbers are water white translucent and can be color pigmented with Silc Pig® pigments for creating a variety of color effects. You can also add Smooth-On’s Silicone Thinner® to further lower the viscosity or add Smooth-On’s Thi-Vex® thickening agent for brush-on application.

Soft, Softer, Softest . . . Ecoflex® rubbers are based on Smooth-On’s Dragon Skin® technology and are currently available in four different hardness’: Shore A-5, Shore 00-10, 00-30 and 00-50. They are suitable for a variety of applications including making prosthetic appliances, cushioning for orthotics and special effects applications (especially in animatronics where repetitive motion is required).

Ecoflex® 5 has a pot life of 1 minute and a demold time of 5 minutes – Available only in dispensing cartridges.

Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T Silicones are water white translucent tin-cured silicone rubber compounds that have exceptional tear strength, working properties and library life. Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T Silicones feature Smooth-On’s exclusive „Libra®“ catalyst for long library life. They cure overnight and feature knotty tear propagation (if the rubber is torn, the tear quickly terminates in a „knot“ reducing further mold damage).
Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T Silicones will reproduce the finest detail and are suitable for a variety of industrial and art related applications including making molds for reproducing prototypes, furniture, sculpture and architectural elements.
Soft 10T translucent rubber is also ideal for creating animatronic skins and special effects using Silc Pig® silicone pigments.
Mold Max® 10T, 15& 27 Silicones can be thickened with THI-VEX® II additive for brush-on applications. Mold Max® 10T, 15T & 27T silicones can be used to cast a variety of materials including wax, gypsum, low melt alloys/metals and urethane, epoxy or polyester resins (without using a release agent).

Slacker is one component translucent clear fluid that is added “by volume” to our translucent
platinum-cure silicones such as Dragon Skin and Ecoflex products. Slacker will change the “feel” of the silicone rubber to a softer and more “flesh-like” material. It also alters the rebound properties of the silicone, making it feel more like human tissue.

Slacker allows the user to vary the degree of tackiness to the cured silicone, allowing for the creation of self-sticking silicone appliances. The amount of tackiness is in direct proportion to the amount of slacker added. Pieces created with Slacker will not exude silicone oil, eliminating a common problem with other softening methods.

Slacker can be added in larger proportions to Smooth-On’s super soft and stretchy platinum silicones (for example, Ecoflex 00-30) to make silicone gel that can be used to create gel-filled silicone prosthetic appliances. Gel-filled appliances will flex, bend, and even wrinkle like human flesh. Silicone gels created with Slacker can also be used to create cushioning materials for medical applications (anaplastology).
Use Skin Tite adhesive to temporarily, but securely, adhere silicone appliances to the skin.
